Welcome to the website of the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the Republic of Bulgaria.
Located in Southeast Asia, one of the cradles of mankind civilization, Vietnam has a long historyl and traditional culture with thousands of years of struggling for nation building and defence. On September 2nd 1945, President Ho Chi Minh addressed  the Declaration of Independence, founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam). The Vietnamese people then successfully regained national independence and reunification after  two protracted resistance wars against imperialism and colonialism with so much sacrifice. For more than 20 years of reform, the Vietnamese people have achieved enormous success of historic significance.
Pursuing an open foreign policy of independence, self-resilience, peace, cooperation, development, multilateralisation and diversification of external relations, Vietnam is now enjoying diplomatic relations with 170 countries and territories in the world and increasingly enhancing her position in the international arena.
Vietnam and Bulgaria have developed a long-lasting relationship. February 8th 1950 marked the establishment of the bilateral diplomatic relations. The official visit of President Ho Chi Minh to Bulgaria in August 1957 laid the foundation for excellent traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two States and peoples.
Through this website, we wish to provide our readers with background information on our country and people, our socio-economic achievements, traditional culture and tourism of Vietnam and also the information on Bulgaria - the beautiful country of roses, and the Vietnam – Bulgaria relations.
